Raising Boys: what does it mean to be a man?

“What does it mean today ‘to be a man’? The recent Netflix show ‘Adolescence’ brings this topic back into sharp focus. It depends on who you ask, but stereotypes would suggest being stoic and unemotional. They would also indicate physical strength and being a protector. A real man doesn't show weakness or express feelings.

Is this really the example we want to share with our growing boys?

Research shows that these traditional expectations of masculinity can have harmful consequences. Men are far less likely than women to seek mental health support, men are far more likely to commit violent crimes and have higher rates of suicide. So how do you better parent your son so he is emotionally healthy and happy?
