The AAS Pickleball Bash

Join AAS and UFIT for an afternoon of fun and socializing. Don’t know how to play? No problem! The game is easy to pick up. Don’t have equipment? We’ve got you covered. Paddles and balls will be provided – water, too! All you have to do is show up. Don’t have a partner? No worries. Sign up as individuals. Easy peasey.

This event is all about introducing folks to the sport. Everybody will get to play for the full 2.5 hours with 10 minutes matches on the court, 10 minutes off the court then back for another 10-minute match and so forth. It’ll be such fun!

Bring the whole family, anyone over the age of 9 is welcome to play. Wee ones will be entertained, too. And we’ll have a bit of socializing after. What a great Sunday family afternoon!

THE SPORT

So what is Pickleball anyway? It’s a rapidly growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It's played on a smaller court with solid paddles and a perforated plastic ball, making it accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. You don’t have to be super fit to play either. It’s all about fun! What makes pickleball special is its simplicity and inclusivity. Beginners can quickly grasp the basics, while advanced players get into the strategy.

Those who join the bash will have priority to play in our soon-to-be-anounced pickleball league.

BRACKETS

Adults: 15 years old and above

Kids: 9-14 years old

Children 8 and under

USAGSO Senior Girl Scout Troop 82 will keep your kiddos entertained! For a $20 donation per child to the troop, the girls will keep yur kids busy for the entire event. The troop is raising funds to go to Laos in February. The donation will be paid directly to the troop on the day of the event. 

PRIZES

- The winner of our 15+ bracket will take home a 7-day UFIT class voucher for unlimited access to all of UFIT's indoor and outdoor classes at all locations. This includes any of UFIT's strength, power, cardio classes, outdoor bootcamps, tennis burn, etc.

- The winner of our 9-14 bracket snags a $100 gift voucher for Hard Rock.

SCHEDULE

3:50-4:00 Drop young children at children’s area

4:00-4:10 Pickleball details including rally scoring briefing

4:10-6:40 Matches begin

6:40-7:00 Mixer with awards, announcements & light refreshments

THE FORMAT

Doubles random rotations

- Partners are rotating all the time (levels out the playing field)

- Players play for 10-minute rounds

- Points are accumulated throughout the day

- Using the rally scoring format which means anybody could win!

- Practice courts available while waiting to play

REFRESHMENTS

Your ticket includes water, after-tourney wine, Joe's Hard Seltzer and munchies.

ADULTS 15+: $75 for non-members; $60 for AAS members 

KIDS 9-14: $50 for non-members;  $40 for AAS members
