Since Kirk Wagar left Singapore as Donald Trump was sworn in, Singapore has not has an ambassador. Rather, career foreign service officers have served as the Chargé d'Affaires and Chief of Mission, very aptly respresenting the US in Singapore for the past five years. But things will soon change. President Joe Biden's nominee to the post, Jonathan Kaplan, was approved the Senate Saturday, November 20.
